All of our engineering, manufacturing, distribution and headquarters is out of the great state of Georgia. Home of the 2021 World Series Champion Atlanta Braves! Even though the launch of the JMH2911, Beast Hack, LLC’s indoor, outdoor and mobile baseball/softball swing trainer didn’t launch until November 2021, the origin and idea came about back in 2005 while Chief Idea Engineer Keaton Smith was playing professional baseball in Europe. After graduating college in December of 2004 with a bachelor of science in business management from Division II HBCU Albany State University in south Georgia, Keaton set off to play in Europe and a chance encounter with ex Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees MLB All-Star Paul Blair and old teammate from the 1978 New York Yankees Larry Massaroni would change Keaton’s future forever.
Keaton Smith was a switch hitting catcher that could play anywhere on the field with a 94 mph arm from the outfield, shortstop and a 1.87 second pop time from behind the plate. With no other catching experience since little league, Keaton and his fellow Golden Ram teammates went on to clinch back to back SIAC conference championships his junior and senior year. At the end of his senior year, Keaton was on the radar of pro scouts, independent baseball teams and international baseball clubs. Personal accomplishments included first team all-conference catcher in the spring of 2004 with a .389 batting average, 39 RBI’s, .584 on base percentage and .554 slugging percentage. The 2004 season ended with an NCAA/Rawlings All-South second team selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
In the fall of 2019, Keaton was speaking with his wife about wanting to get back into baseball even though he had built a successful industrial distribution company in the labeling, packaging and material handling equipment industry. Country Innovation & Supply served the manufacturing and distribution industry and Keaton’s role was assisting engineers and plant managers in the enhancing of products and processes to meet the demands of current and future applications. Plain and simple, he knew how to manufacture and now it was time to create a robust, quality professional grade baseball and softball swing trainer that the market so desperately needed. After two and half years of R&D, six patent filings and five trademark filings, the “Beast Hack” brand had come to life!
“Our family faith has fueled every entrepreneurship endeavor ever to come to fruition in our household. My favorite MLB ballplayer growing up was MLB All-Star and 2001 World Series Champion, Jay Bell (Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets) whom Keaton met trick or treating as a young boy. Jay told me about Jesus as a young kid and that seed never withered. I had many trials and tribulations in my life, but I remember the day Jay told me how much Jesus loves each and every one of us. In 1999 at Shorter college in Rome, GA another friend by the name of Drew Startup would show me what Jesus was all about through his interactions with others. Drew, the connections pastor now at NorthStar church in Kennesaw, GA is still one of my best friends to this day and I love him and his family with all my heart!” – Keaton
